Anyone else get some serious Silent Hill 2 vibes from (synthesiser)?

Here's an interview with Pitchfork that Phil just did. Am I the only one that sorta went when Phil stated that he would hate people moving to Anacortes just because of all the work he's done? Personally, I have always thought about it ever since I got crazy on his work. He was the first artist to really make me believe that there's this mystical and magical place out there, and I would totally live there because of him. Heh...

I think (and could well be mistaken) that Phil's intention is, rather than to romanticise Anacortes, to make people realise that there's a magical and mysterious place to be found in their hometown too. He's always said that a 'place to call home' is really important, I guess moving to Anacortes would be like inheriting somebody else's home, rather than forging your own somewhere.

You're right, shorton. I guess it's all pretty theoretical anyway; I don't believe that many people would really move there just because of his music. At WTHF in 2011 I remember Phil saying 'you should all move here', but then remarking that it was a bit expensive and that there were not a lot of jobs to be had (difference between idea/reality). It's a typical Pacific NW town, quiet and boring most of the time There's The Business record store and a couple of cool bars, and good seafood, and it's surrounded by gorgeous nature, but in general I think people have a romanticised idea about it just because Phil lives there and makes music that seems to be connected to it, so they superimpose the idea of Mt Eerie. I can see how Phil, being the private and quiet person that he is, would hate it if people moved there because of him, because then they would expect to be hanging out with him all the time, and would approach him in the street

Listening to Wind's Poem was to be lost in the woods in a storm, comforted by the field you were sure to find. Clear Moon is finally wandering into that field, greeted by the moon light and it's clarity.

He updated his website again. The last sentence is probably just Phil being weird but it still excited me.

This just in on the whole 'moving to Anacortes' debate:
'If playing this festival is your life dream, follow these three easy steps (in order): Make good music. Move to Anacortes. Become our friend.'

Mine was, but after playing it a few times it got better. It's still a bit noisy compared to other brand new records I own...
