This just in on pwelverumandsun: 'Fri. April 27th- Anacortes, Wash.- the Business, 5pm, free (debut performance of new Mount Eerie band!)'. Will anyone here be there? Maybe make a recording and let us know what the new band is?

First impressions?
Found a suspect-looking download link. Too excited to worry about viruses.

I really enjoyed it, only listened twice so far, but House Shape is probably my favourite song. It's almost a pop song.

The Place I Live is probably my favourite at the moment, the vocals are beautiful.

"House Shape" is ridiculously well made. That pulsating rhythm kinda just draws you in and keeps you there for the entire song.
"Through The Trees pt. 2" kinda brought me back a few albums of his, and I really liked that. It's generally the only song on there like that, but I'm happy he put it in.
"Yawning Sky" is probably one of my favorites on the new one, though I think I really enjoy them all. The entire album feels like each song is one of those..."last song on the album" sorta situation. With every song like that, it's kinda cool.

I love Through The Trees pt. 2. It breaks my heart like Phil's saddest songs.
I like The Place Lives, House Shape, Lone Bell, and the (somethings)
Yawning Sky will probably grow on me, I want to like Over Dark Water but it's pretty dull.
I don't like the Place I Live or Clear Moon. (synthesizer) isn't really worth mentioning.
It feels really short, but that's ok because we only have half of the overall experience. Can't wait for Ocean Roar.

The title track is the only one that feels like a grower. All the others are great, can't wait to have the physical package in my hands.
(synthesizer) was better than I figured and a good way to end the record.

(synthesizer) feels like 'Organs' at the end of It was hot. Similar swelling of noise.
Through the trees Pt. 2 is by far and away my favourite. I got chills when the female voice came in (anybody know who it was? Presumably Genevieve/Julie?). The guitars at the start are a definite throw-back to 'No Flashlight'.
It does feel short, but I rather like that. It doesn't feel like too bigger investment to sit down and listen and really concentrate.
Haven't quite 'got' the title track yet.

It's neither Julie nor Genevieve, it's Allyson [edit: corrected from Alison]. For me, the guitars right at the beginning of 'Through the Trees pt 2' bring me back to 'the Glow pt 2' - the song- (from 0.40 onwards in Glow, and from around 0.50 in Trees, the two acoustic guitars panned hard left/right). It could be just the same technique but it feels like a wink to me.
