This came a bit out of leftfield! If I remember well that incarnation was Phil and No Kids, with no guitars being played on stage, just keyboards and some steel drums, and a gong.

hi everybody, my name's mike. i'm the guy releasing this live album on my label, XRA Records. I'm a big big mt eerie/microphones/elverum fan from way back when, and i'm very excited about this record. feel free to ask me any questions about it that you might have. aside from insound, you can also preorder the album directly from me if you want to. (it costs .99 less, and phil will ultimately see more of the money this way, if you care about that) www.xrarecords.com/catalog/live-in-bloomington-september-30th-2011/oh, and you can also stream "ancient questions" from that link! THANKS!

Are you sending copies to Phil? I'm going to see him a couple times in the next few months so I'm gonna buy one direct from him if he has them, otherwise I will order one direct from you.
Thanks

Hi Mike, good to see you here. How did this album come about? Your idea or Phil's? And how could you keep it a 'secret' for two years? Is everything live or were any overdubs made later on (unlikely)?

Good questions!
I booked this show for Phil at my friend Mike Bridavsky's studio. He does a lot of great shows there and does a multitrack recording of each one. I asked Phil about possibly releasing it (he and I had done a few shows together at that point) and he liked the recording and trusted me to do a good enough job on the release I suppose! It wasn't so much a "secret" as it was forgotten about for a year or so.
We did do a proper good mix of the show after the fact, but there are no overdubs. Everything is as it was on the night of the show (though we did edit out some dead time and some monitor-fixing moments, nothing pertinent or interesting)
For another piece of interesting trivia, I do recommend doing a google of the name "Mike Bridavsky"!!
