I know that 21st Century Pop song is a cover, it's by a band called Hymie's Basement which was a side project of the band Why? It's been out for a few years, never heard the Shadows of the Woods before

Apparently Shadows of the Woods is from the "Vinyl 2014" compilation album put together by "Hygge Factory" called "Midt i København" ("In the Center of Copenhagen"). Here's what Phil had to say about it: “It was an interesting assignment, to sing a pre-written song. It requires abandoning all attachment to my own lyrical voice and being OK with singing someone else’s words. Fortunately the line “drawn by the shadows of the woods” is a sentiment I can easily relate to. I’m not sure if it means the same thing to me as it does to the authors, but the open interpretation is the wonder of art and music. I built my own atmosphere from this anchor point of meaning for me and I’m happy with the result.” Mount Eerie From hyggefactory.org/projekter/vinyl-2014/

Interesting. According to the description on Discogs.com, these were "songs written by Danish teenagers and young asylum seekers. The songs are interpreted and recorded by Mount Eerie, Mike Sheridan, De Høje Hæle, Penny Police, Jonas Villumsen, Mads Mouritz, Battle, Memohi and Ali Sufi."

I just stumbled onto that Shadows in the Woods track on Spotify a few days ago, found the hyggefactory.org link, pretty much got as far as anyone here. Strange that Phil didn't mention it anywhere on his website or tumblr...

Hymie's Basement was a collaboration between Yoni Wolf and Minneapolis musician Andrew Broder, also known as Fog. It was recorded in the basement of the fantastic Hymie's Records here in MPLS.
Phil played drums on a Fog record like 7 years ago or so, so they know each other, and if memory serves he's toured with WHY before as well, so it makes sense that he'd remix their song.
