i heard he got banned from what the heck because of how fucked up/high he was during the peace show 3(i think?) years ago? any truth to this? it was the year of the noise show.
did AO ever come out? what is it like, to those that have it? similar sound to zone out or early stuff?

So I moved from Chicago to Portland a few weeks ago... it's already been one of the best things that's happened to me in a long time. I know that some of you on here are in the area, and it'd be neat to meet up at some point and say hi. Anyway, since this is more or less the place I've always gone for info on Mr. Orange, I thought I would say that it looks like he'll be playing a show here in Portland next week with a Malian guitar player/bandleader named Ali Baba that Adrian is apparently helping to get off the ground here in the states. If you ask me, that's a pretty good indication that he might play some of the Lillyyss Adrian Orange (& Her Band) that he was playing a few years back (that show in Chicago in 2007 is still one of the most incredible things I've ever seen in my life). In any case, the info is at the site below, and I'll be sure to report back if anyone's curious about how it went. www.artistery.net/shows

I realize this is off topic, but to the last guy-
How did you make the move? I'm actually from Chicago and I aspire to move to the PNW at some point in my life, but that sort of thing seems so daunting. How did you find a job/place to stay?

I'm usually content just reading what others have to say but felt compelled to create an account in order to chime in. Rather disheartening indeed.
Adrian's music, while perhaps not earth-shattering or life-changing, was until recent history, at least interesting. His captivating if not tone-deaf dead panned vocals and Elverum-ish briskly strummed guitar outlined a musician that could hold a crowd. He seemed to have something to say, even if the lyrics were slightly cryptic and the recordings were a bit rough around their edges.
His latest under-takings, with enough random pics and youtube videos now surfaced to call it "legitimately not a joke" points to a dude that has chosen a new direction, to say the least. As easy as it is to disseminate unproven suspicions, it's hard not to see Adrian's current actions as the outpourings of a man affected by chemicals. Videos of recent performances highlight rambling stream of consciousness rants about naming a band after combos, talking to a frog near Powell's books, mentions to Weed and Mescaline, and enough jumbled connections that its hard not to wonder if long term damage from such fucked-uppery will not exist.
A listen to the AO record on marriage records finds his music to be the largest change. Entirely instrumental, slow moving and repetitive, the songs do not hold enough interest to captivate the sober mind.
I can assure anyone that is thinking that Adrian is undertaking some long play performance art piece (see: Joaquin Phoenix) that the idea makes no sense and in general, is squashed by the slowly accruing treasure chest of internet media fodder. I truly wish the guy well, but have to look away from this car wreck until the road is cleared.

i'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this, but anyway. we had a living room concert last march and all of our "musician-friends" played some songs. my girlfriend and me did a verion of 'nowhere' and everyone in the room joined the chorus. i like it and thought it would be a nice idea to share it: www.myspace.com/haruko.musicit's in her player there.

and i totally agree with you, nowhere is one of adrians greatest songs.
btw: does anybody did 'now it's all over like the birds' as much as i do? that's somehow my favourite recording of adrian's.

I love Now It Is All Over...
Does anyone know if there are track titles? I know the CD itself doesn't list any.
I must say Nothing or The River are my favorites though.
