I ask mainly because I'm thinking about putting together my own cassette release...it seems like a fun (though demanding) way to get involved on another level with making an album. For those of you that have put together cassette releases, how did you make them? Was the music originally recorded to tape, or did any of you have stuff that was recorded digitally and then dub it to cassettes? I'm just wondering if it would make a huge difference in sound and all that if I recorded on my computer and then dubbed tapes from that vs recording straight to tape in the first place.

A friend of mine released her album on cassette, through www.tapeline.co.uk/ (though there are probably better options considering you're american). She didn't record straight to tape from what I know. She just sent the CD to them, and they mastered it for tape, and put it on about 60 tapes for a very reasonable price.
