Hey i'm trying to get some info here. I know there are a couple different covers for this. One comes in a brown cardboard foldover sleeve and says "the microphones" on it and "tests" on the back (i've seen versions with "Tests" large on the back as well as smaller).
Ok then there is apparently a version of the cover that just says "microphones" on the front and under that theres a girls head. Until today I had assumed this was also in one of those brown cardboard sleeves. I won one from a dude on ebay and when it showed up its not like that. Its the real cd in a white sleeve, with the insert on glossier paper than the other one was and just what looks like a color copy of that "girl heard" cover, all inside a plastic slip case.
My question for anyone out there is have i been ripped off? Was this really how the "girl head" version was released or is this just a real cd someone has gone and color copied the insert and the cover and sold me without the real cover.
Any info would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks.

Though I have no idea, it's sounding like a rip off. But, hopefully someone has more information.

Just out of curiosity how much did you pay for it? I'm thinking about buying the one on ebay that's at $50 for buy it now.

so i ended up emailing the people at elsinore records who put out the tests cd and got an incredibly fast and friendly reply...
Hi Brian
The answer is both are right. The digipack was a run of 500 or so and were all letterpressed by Phil.
Our run of CDs was for 1000 so we had extra, and so when the first run ran out we made color copies (the one with the girl) and used the white sleeves.
If your CD itself is printed and not of the CD-ROM variety, then you are in position of one of the ones that I put together myself.
Thanks for the memory. That is still my second favorite Microphones record, and one of my favorite things we did at Elsinor.
Cheers,
Joe
So, that is really awesome news. Still trying to find out if there are cardboard printed "phil versions" of the girlhead one, i'm pretty sure there are, but we shall see.
And thank you to Joe at Elsinore, the reply meant a lot to me!
