Finally got mine today! The literary references Phil mentions are hiding in the Credits of the album. He discusses the following: The poem "Go Now" by Gary Snyder (which details the death of Snyder's wife) as being a foreboding tale that he read shortly before Genevieve was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The "My Struggle" book series by Karl Ove Knausgaard & "Benji" by Sun Kil Moon inspiring the lyrical approach of documenting the tragedy in great detail "without attempting wisdom or big statements." The poem "After Bamiyan" by Gary Snyder leading to a line in "Soria Moria" The poem "Night Palace" by Joanne Kyger (pictured on the front of the album), which Genevieve had pinned above her workstation. Thanks! Sounds interesting. I will try to grab a copy when they become available in Europe.

Got mine today, with a Key Losers record case as packaging I received an order recently that came in a Song Islands Vol. 1 box. It says LPs: 45 on it and whatever ELV# and I figured it must have contained 45 records from the pressing plant without jackets, cuz I know Phil and the folks at The Business put the albums together themselves. I should post a pic, I thought it was neat so I kept it.

Has anyone been to one of the recent shows? Wondering if Phil has the new record / any merch on hand.

I was at the show last night, Phil played 2 new songs bookending a performance of the latest LP in full. The first song was called Distortion and the last was Tintin In Tibet, both reminded me a little of Soria Maria as far as the structure and songwriting went.
Also be warned, Phil has a zine to hand out to those requesting autographs, he politely gave me a copy after I asked if it was only for autograph seekers and he said it was also for those who just wanted a zine. It's essentially 8-12 pages explaining why Phil doesn't feel comfortable signing autographs (and is humorously enough signed on the back).

I heard about the two new songs as well - any chance you recorded any of them, Sam? Also, I'm curious about this autograph zine, could you scan it or take photos when you have the time? It's not very likely he'll be in Europe anytime soon, and these sort of things do tend to be kind of ephemeral...

I will scan it once I have the free time. It is quite interesting to hear Phil's thoughts on the matter.
Also I believe my wife recorded the set from Real Death onwards so we should have the last (new) song. I'll be at the 2nd show tonight and might try to get a cleaner and full recording.

Excellent, Sam! Looking forward to both! There have been very few recordings of shows lately, even with the Sauna tour...

I recorded the full set with my phone, it's definitely not perfect or pro quality but it's clear enough to hear everything from the brief playback I tested.
Hopefully I can find the time to upload it tonight.
As for the show it was just as wonderful as the previous night, the crowd seemed a little more appreciative and there were a few humorous moments of stage banter. Same setlist and all.

Show last night was beautiful. So glad to see him again. I have photos of the autograph zine but don't know how to post the photos to the board.

If you go to imgur.com you'll be upload an album of the photos, then link them here. There's also an Imgur app if they're on your phone. Would still love to see some photos of the inside of the LP gatefold if anyone has any -- I thought I had a post here about that before but it seems to have been deleted. Tintin is drop-dead gorgeous... achingly sad.

Apparently Phil played 8 new songs the other night and supposedly all of them have been recorded except one for an album to be released next year.
