i emailed phil the pics, requesting not for him to be freaked out. cant wait for his reply. The artist told me he is putting it on the website which with a few lines from Log In The Waves and Two Moons, and citing the artist that inspired it. So it will bring more attention to him.
Sidebar: I emailed Jeff Lewis to see if he would design my next tattoo.

Phil replied to my email. It had 6 words in it, but I am not sure if it would be inappropriate to post what he said? Im not socially skilled like that, but I will say he loved it and didn't seem freaked out.

Really literal interpretation of those songs...

Really literal interpretation of those songs... how you visualize it and how i visualize it and how my artist visualized my description are all unique. but even if the imagery is literal of the lyrics, what it means to me is unique. the songs are profound to me in ways they arent to you, so the tattoo has as much meaning as if they songs never existed. as one friend said, its timeless, because its about what the songs mean to me. so yes, its somewhat literal, but so what? i didnt just get them because they are cool songs...but because of what they mean to me and how they relate to my life. but i want to add that the way the moon is depicted in a rusty bucket with the actual moon in the bucket, causing water to overflow and subsequently cause a tidal wave which has a log in those waves... yeah, thats not in the song. and star filled sky is in neither song...

By all means, cover your entire body with ink. I just think it's kind of ironic to get a tattoo of two songs from the guy's period in which he was basically writing songs about how it's really misguided and kind of embarrassing to be the type of person who gets tattoos of bands' songs. "Let's get out of the romance!"

transistor, get a life. the dude got a tattoo and it meant something to him. the romance is not what you say it is so lay off.
when he says "let's get out of the romance" it means get out thinking about living on your own in a cabin in norway. why would he sing songs if he didn't want to hold onto ideas? even if the ideas are about going beyond holding onto the ideas?
the way i see it, is that helo made a bold statement based on some ideas, just like phil does in his songs. very well done helo.

I disagree with both of the last two posts.
The first because neither of the songs are really about that.
The second because "let's get out of the romance" is more about letting go of ideas (specifically the idea of doing things for romantic reasons, or romanticizing the real world). Not that that idea is really relevant to this tattoo.
