darkslippeditscloak.blogspot.com/2009/09/goodtime-john-dark-slipped-its-cloak-ep.htmlPhil and Adrian Orange also play on it, aswell as Karl Blau. "The songs on this EP where recorded by Phil Elverum in the Department of Safety in Anacortes, WA at the end of the summer of 2007. In between a ferocious table tennis tournament and a lot of lake swimming we got 11 songs recorded. The Songs available here are the ones I think work best. The idea I had was to have a really loose and raw feel to the songs and play with musicians who hadn’t heard the songs before (in a kind of John Wesley Harding style). Kevin Erickson played organ and some guitar, Adrian Orange played drums, Ruth Allison played bass and sang, Phil played drums, some piano and some guitar and Karl Blau popped in and did some harmonies. It’s taken a while for this to be released so I decided to give it away for free. Please download the artwork and make a a cover for yourself (it’s all part and parcel)."

also does some singing also some Woelv. I am so envious of this guy, fills me with hope though that some guy from my tiny country was able to go over and do it. The last track is basically a duet with phil.

His name is John Cowie known as Goodtime John, he sings on the Singers LP. He is a brilliant performer from Dublin as am I. I only saw him the other night and he was amazing. Check out this clip on youtube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vchvCHhSwsCheck out his myspace: www.myspace.com/goodtimejohnBuy his albums, they are brilliant. Sorry but i'm a big fan of his.

I'm really regretting not going to that anseo gig. Squarehead + Crayonsmith are both great, but had only heard one song of his and was pretty wrecked after college. After hearing this ep, I'm kicking myself.

Yeah I was at the Anseo gig, it was deadly. Squarehead and Crayonsmyth were good too. Never heard of Squarehead before but was impressed. Goodtime was really good as usual, he takes you to a different place with each song, such a good voice.

I've seen Goodtime John a couple of times. He's pretty good. He's organized gigs for Phil in Dublin in the past (the one upstairs in whelans a couple of years ago definitely, and maybe others as well). I'll have to give this a listen.
I've only seen crayonsmith the once. Wasn't a fan.

Yeah i was at the gig upstairs in Whelans. That was the best Phil gig i've ever been to. Such a great place to have a gig. I'm refering to Whelans before it was done up, about 3 years ago I think.

I was at that too. The early show anyway. I really should have gotten a ticket for the late show too.
Are there pictures around from that/those gigs? I'd love to see them.
Woelv played too. Also great.
