Would she happen to be the woman that toured with him recently?
If anything that gives me chills, it's the 45 second mark and beyond on "The Place Lives". Personally, "Lone Bell" needs a few more listens for me to really appreciate its beauty. I remember him playing it live when I saw him, but I wasn't that into it. Again, I'll give it a few more tries. "Over Dark Water" seems a tad too open or spaced for me. It feels a little empty and...too dark? Something like that. "Clear Moon" is the same, but just not as dark. "(Synthesizer)" is actually a pretty cool tune.

This album is incredible. I can't wait to have the physical copy in my hands...
I'm almost moved to tears when I hear his line "I know there's no other world".... a counterpoint to the sadness on No Flashlight and the attempt to reach towards a more (Platonic) meaning with the world?

Phil just linked to a "curated videos playlist" on YouTube: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1FDA80D4BE8FC460Kind of reminds me of a video-version of "headwaters," but for the new albums. He goes on to explain: "This playlist is a collection of musics and videos that have been on my mind for the last few years as I've been recording my 2 new albums, Clear Moon and Ocean Roar. In general these are songs that feel epic and also evoke a mythologized version of some particular place, or at least a landscape. The voices tend to be synthetic or so layered that they're obscured, with occasional verses of clarity cutting through. This is what I'm drawn to I guess, and it's what I try to make happen with my own music. Some of the videos aren't about this at all but they are still magic. For example, the Jacques Brel performance is one of my favorites because of the rapture evident in him as he sings, and then how it ends with him swatting the mic away in a fury like a proto-punk. Being swept away by the mystery in a larger, darker, non-human world is the common thread here."

P.W. Elverum and Sun says you can pre-order Clear Moon now. I don't see a link or option in the store yet so it should be available soon. Also that video playlist sounds awesome, can't wait to check it out!

Link's up now. The record itself reminds me of a clear moon haha. Looks to be the same incredible packaging we've grown accustomed to. Foil stamping should be required in all record packaging forever

Shipping to Europe is more expensive than the record itself :/
Appart from that, the packaging looks incredible indeed - I wasn't a fan of the title's font but it looks much better with the foil stamping.

Who is Alison and how did you know that? 'RECORDED between October 3rd, 2010 and January 7th, 2012 at the UNKNOWN in Anacortes, Wash. by Phil Elverum with Allyson Foster on “THROUGH THE TREES pt. 2†& “the PLACE I LIVE†GenevieÌ€ve CastreÌe on “OVER DARK WATER†Carson Churchill and Paul Benson on “CLEAR MOON†' So it seems Phil plays all instruments - I thought I recognised the 'floppy' drumming in House Shape

preordered my copy, along with a few cheap old Microphones CDs. even though I'm probably just going to buy the "repackaged" editions once those come out next year or whenever that happens.

I'm pretty much blown away by Clear Moon. Third listen, driving home after work (The Place Lives) from bright clear sky into a wall of black clouds and lightning. I felt the truck start to float above the pavement and chills filled my bones, the music got me high! Listening to Clear Moon driving through heavy rain, my head full of terrified beauty.
Man I love this record, perfect follow up to WP!

Putting my order in right now! there isn't really any picture I could provide that would be better than what he already has on the website - the "Words" booklet isn't much, just the lyrics and a few small pictures like the one on the cover of it. the LP sleeve is beautiful.
